Chakras
1.
WHAT?
Chakra means “wheel” and refers to energy points in your body. They are thought to be spinning vortices of energy that act as purification and distribution centers of life energy in our body. Nadis are the pathways of the life energies. There are 72000 of them.
Chakras correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs and areas of our body that affect our emotional and physical well-being. There are 7 primary Chakras, and up to 144 covering multi-dimensional aspects.
2.
WHY?
Each of the 7 primary chakras contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being. It’s essential that our 7 primary chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid to remain healthy and maximise potential. If there is a blockage, energy flows are restricted.
3.
WHEN?
The chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC in the oldest text called the Vedas. Evidence of chakras, spelled "cakra", is also found in the Upanishads (philosophical-religious texts of Hinduism). Jabala Darshana Upanishad, the Cudamini Upanishad, the Yoga-Shikka Upanishad and the Shandilya Upanishad. The main text about the Chakras has come from the West in a translation by Arthur Avalon in his book "The Serpent Power" published in 1919.
