REIKI COURSE LEVEL 1
ATTUNEMENT AND THE HISTORY AND ORIGINS OF REIKI
Reiki attunement is performed by a Reiki Master and it's designed to pass on powers of Reiki to the student.
The Reiki attunement processes is an important spiritual healing ritual and it is an essential one for anyone who wants to master the art of Reiki healing.
Students are introduced to its holistic approach to healing which involves harnessing life force universal energies to heal the body and mind. Reiki level 1 isn't taught so much as it is 'transferred' from master to student. It is a very spiritual experience for the student and it essentially focuses on the self. It helps a person to first overcome any obstacles that they will need to to fully master the art of Reiki. During stage 1 they will also learn about the history and origins of Reiki and about both positive and negative vibrations.

REIKI COURSE LEVEL 2
ATTUNEMENT AND THE POWER, MENTAL / EMOTIONAL AND DISTANCE HEALING SYMBOL
Reiki attunement level 2, and the Reiki master will give the student three different Reiki symbols: the power symbol, the mental/emotional symbol and the distance symbol. These three powerful symbols only have power once the Reiki master has passed them onto the student and they will serve to give the student a better and deeper connection to the life force energies of the universe. The Power Symbol ('Cho Ku Rei') teaches the student to focus on specific chakras or body parts. The mental/emotional symbol ('Sei He Ki') helps the student to align the left and right sides of the brain and is also used to connect the subconscious parts of our brain to the conscious parts. The distance symbol ('She Ze Sho Nen') helps with distance healing across time and space.
REIKI COURSE LEVEL 3
ATTUNEMENT AND THE MASTER SYMBOL

This is sometimes known as the master level (however some do count the master level as a separate level altogether).
During Reiki level 3 one of the symbols that the student will receive is Dai Ko Myo symbol: this is also sometimes known as ‘the great enlightenment’ or ‘bright shining light’ and is used to heal auras and chakras.
During this level of attunement the student has the opportunity to become the master so that they can then move on to higher and higher levels of enlightenment.

Overview

WHAT?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. The predominate form of Reiki practiced throughout the world today, also known as Usui Reiki, was created by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It is a complementary or alternative health approach.

WHEN?
Dr. Mikao Usui, sometimes called the Usui Sensei, studied in a Buddhist monastery where he was taught martial arts, swordsmanship, and the Japanese form of Chi Kung, known as Kiko. In a cave on Mount Kurama, for 21 days, Dr. Usui fasted, meditated and prayed. On the morning of the twenty-first day, Dr. Usui experienced an event that would change his life forever. He saw ancient Sanskrit symbols that helped him develop the system of healing he had been struggling to invent. Usui Reiki was born.

WHO?

Mikao Usui founded his first Reiki clinic and school in Tokyo in 1922, and taught several . Reiki masters namely Dr. Hayashi.

Dr. Hayashi further developed the Usui system by adding more hand positions and refined the attunement process. He trained several more Masters, including a Mrs Takata.

Mrs. Hawayo Takata was a Japanese-American woman who originally went to Dr. Hayashi for healing. Upon learning the system herself, Mrs. Takata took Reiki home to America.
